Principal's Corner
Dear Crestwood Families,
Whether you are a new family at Crestwood or you have been in the Crestwood community for years, welcome to our school! I am both proud and excited to be your principal in this supportive community within the Madison Metropolitan School District.
Crestwood is a school that places the social and emotional needs of children and their families first in all that we do. We are committed to serving the whole child and the whole family. Please expect to be contacted by your child’s teacher on a regular basis and we expect the same from you. We value our partnerships with our families and know that together we can do great things for our children and our community.
Crestwood stands out in MMSD as a Restorative Justice school. This means that we take the time to teach children how to be in community with each other. Our equity statement reads: We will facilitate learning communities that nurture the capacity of students, staff and families to engage with one another and their environment in a manner that supports and respects the inherent dignity and worth of all. This is how we are when we are together as a Crestwood community.
Crestwood also values the power of rigorous, well thought out lessons. Our teachers are working hard to implement our new literacy curriculum which is helping our young scholars become vigorous readers and writers. Please ask your children about what they are learning about!
I look forward to a full year of community building as we learn, play and grow together. Please introduce yourself to me if/when you see me and feel free to contact me via email or phone 608-204-1120 at any time throughout the school year.
Sincerely,
Kelly Lawler, Principal
