Wright Middle School Alumni Inspire the Next Generation on Career Day

Wright Middle School provided its eighth-grade students with a unique opportunity to explore future career paths and connect with local organizations at the annual Career & Resource Fair. Led by school counselor Sara Knutson, the event welcomed back Wright alumni who shared their journeys in various trades, professions and entrepreneurial ventures, offering students a firsthand look at the diverse career options available to them.

The alumni speakers represented a wide range of high-demand fields, including:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Electrician
  • Landscaping
  • Cosmetology
  • Trucking and Freight Management

In addition to engaging with alumni career speakers, students had the chance to attend a resource fair featuring representatives from community organizations and educational institutions. Organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Overture Center for the Arts provided insights into summer programs, academic opportunities, and career pathways. Other participants included IBEW Local 159, Jackson's Yard Care, Dane County Humane Society's Wildlife Center, and Simpson Street Free Press, among others.

By connecting students with professionals and community resources, Wright Middle School continues to empower its students to explore their interests, gain valuable knowledge about the workforce, and take meaningful steps toward their future goals.
